About GramChef

GramChef is a small, independent website of free kitchen tools, built for home cooks and bakers who keep meeting recipes written in the "wrong" measurement system.

Why this site exists

American recipes measure in cups; most of the rest of the world weighs in grams. Converting between the two sounds simple until you discover that a cup of flour and a cup of sugar differ by nearly 80 grams — and that most quick converters quietly use one number for both. GramChef was built to do the job properly: a separate, published weight for every ingredient, a converter that handles a whole recipe in one paste, and supporting tools for scaling servings, swapping pans and translating oven temperatures.

Everything here is free, works without an account, and runs entirely in your browser. What you paste into the tools never leaves your device.

Who checks the numbers

GramChef's tools and conversion values are reviewed by Muhammad Abubakar — known as Mobeen — the site's founder, who holds a NAVTTC Certified Chef qualification (Level 2), issued in his full name, Muhammad Abubakar — Pakistan's national vocational certification for professional cookery — and completed professional kitchen training. The underlying data does not come from opinion: our primary reference is the King Arthur Baking ingredient weight chart, with USDA FoodData Central values for ingredients it does not cover. Our methodology page explains every assumption we make, from the spoon-and-level flour method to the exact size of a US cup, so you can judge the numbers for yourself.

What GramChef is not

We are not a recipe site and we do not sell anything. The weights published here are reference values from the sources named above; individual brands, humidity and technique will always cause small real-world differences, and a kitchen scale remains the final authority in your own kitchen. If you spot a value you believe is wrong, we genuinely want to know — see our contact page.

How the site is funded

GramChef is kept free by advertising. Any advertising on the site is clearly separated from the tools and content, and our privacy policy explains how advertising cookies work and how to control them.
